what a weekend!

Such a good weekend for collecting postcards! Since it was my Aunt's last weekend in Australia we went to the beach on Saturday and followed it up with a trip to Warringah Mall where I found these advant cards:

(1. 'Kitty & The Carousel' by Jo Dyer 2. Advert for WOMADelaide)

NB: Jo Dyer actually has a blog here on blogger, check it out - shes a really good artist :D

Then on Sunday morning we went to Newtown for breakfast as we do every year to farewell my aunt before dropping her off at the airport. At this cute cafe Cinque I picked up a number of postcards, my favourites posed next to my delicious hot chocolate:

I love the colours of these, they worked really well together. (1. Powerhouse museum exhibit 2. So What? production of King Lear and 3. Adelaide Fringe)

After dropping of my aunt at the airport, on a whim, we decided to go to 'The 80s are Back' exhibit. Thanks Advant Card for letting us know about that! Especially thanks from me because there were more postcards - just 3... but I was still excited! My favourite of these is for The International Lace Award, a competition presented by the Powerhouse museum. I found the design super cool and arty.

What a weekend!!

Parisian art: what a show!

Earlier this week my twin Emma and I drove our mum, aunt and sister down to Canberra to see the 'Masterpieces from Paris' exhibit at the National Gallery. It did take us twice as long to get there, being on our 'Ls' and having to drive under the speed limit, but it was so worth it! It was amazing seeing some of the art I've studied in highschool and heaps more up close. You couldn't take pictures so, of course, i had to get postcards. Here are my favs, which I photographed on the way home, they are all by Claude Monet:

'Waterlily pond, green harmony'

'London, Parliament: sun through the fog'

'Study of a figure outdoors: woman with a sunshade turned to the right'

'In the Norwegian'

all the way from italy!

On walking into the dining room this afternoon i get handed an envelope addressed 'misses Grace and Emma' (my twin). Upon its opening, out comes 11 postcards from my friend Caroline who is staying in Italy for the summer. Among them are a few from Italy but also Libya which excites me very much!

(right to left) The one written on postcard, Libya and the 20 euro

The random thing was, while flipping through these - with joy, i might add - i find enclosed 20 euro - though I was slightly disappointed to discover that its only about $10...
*edit*according to my sister its actually $40 YAY!!

It is truely a new world for me in starting a blog, I've read many, admired many.. but I'd never have thought i would be starting one of my own.

My name is Grace and I am avid collector of postcards - free, foreign and random, any shape or size. I have none that are vintage but i'm hoping to find some soon. This blog will be the place where I can write of the many random postcards I have, where I collect them and whats going on.
